As per Vastu Pooja room of a house could well be planned in the South East, East or North East part of the house. Precisely, out of the three above options, South East and Eastern part of the house is very appropriate to plan the Pooja Room vastu.

Pooja room should not be painted in dark colors. It can be planned with a lot of illuminating series of lights and fancy bulbs. It is suggested that you be very choosy on what you would like to have in your Pooja room. Rudraksha, Shalagrama, Trishul, Spear (Vel), can be kept in the Pooja room.

It is suggested that we keep a small glass consisting of water in the Pooja Room and replace it daily. Flowers and other offerings should be replaced on a daily basis and should not be left behind for longer durations. Lighting a lamp (Deepam) is recommended.

There is a common talk that photo frames or articles of divine remembrances of our ancestors should not be in the Pooja Room. One should not forget that our parents and grandparents were the ones who taught us the world. They should equally be respected as we do towards Gods. Yes, their photos and divine articles of remembrance can well be placed in our Pooja Room.
