Sri Rama Navami

Ram Navami day marks the descent of Lord Vishnu down to earth, as Sri Ramachandra to King Dasaratha of Ayodhya. Sri Ramachandra is the 7th incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Born as the warrior king, Sri Ramachandra lived life showcasing how to live on Earth. For all the existing troubles and problems in life, Sri Ramayana has got an answer even today. Bhagwan Shri Ram is the main character of Ramayana. Sri Ramachandra was born on the 9th Lunar day of the Chaitra month, on the Punarvasu star. He was born to King Dasaratha and Kousalya. Sri Rama’s birth day is celebrated as Sri Rama Navami across the globe.

This incarnation of Lord Vishnu as Sri Ramachandra is purely meant to teach the world and all of us about Dharma, righteousness and the staunch belief one should possess to be virtuous throughout his/her life. One should always follow ethics and live life with strong moral values. However severe a situation might turn out to be, we should opt to choose the path of Dharma rather than falling prey at the hands of evil or unlawful means.

The life of Sri Ramachandra enables us to learn how we should carry ourselves in life. Few highlighting qualities are mentioned below

• He had never gone against the words or wish of his father

• Wake up before Sunrise
• Take head bath
• Seek the blessings of parents and elders at home
• Offer flowers and fruits to Sri Rama in the morning and perform Pooja
• Rama Navami receipe/prashatham - Offer Panakam, a drink made up of Lime extract, dry ginger and sweet extract, Butter Milk, Vada Pappu,
• Listen to the glory of Sri Rama
• Recite a few verse’ from Sri Ramayana – especially Pattabisheka Sarga

• Chant Sri Rama Naama throughout the day
• Listen to “Sri Rama Raksha Stotram” in the morning, afternoon and in the evening
• Chant “Jai Sri Ram” you will be blessed by Sri Rama and protected by Sri Hanuman
